Cranston, Rhode Island. August 28, 2023 – SyQwest Inc., a leading supplier of tactical solutions for US Navy surface ship and submarine sonar systems and components, announced today that the U.S. Navy has awarded it a five-year ID/IQ contract, TR-364. SyQwest Inc. was awarded an $18,590,131 indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract containing firm-fixed-price provisions to produce transducer projectors and spare parts. Work will be performed in Cranston, Rhode Island, and the ordering period will be completed by August 2028.
The high-frequency sail array projector forms an integral component of the submarine's active sonar system, comprising both projector transducers and receiver arrays. Functionally, the projector serves as an underwater acoustic emitter, featuring signal generation capabilities, a power amplification unit, and an electro-acoustic transducer array. This projector is responsible for emitting the active sonar "ping" signal, which subsequently reflects off potential submerged threats such as enemy submarines and other subsea targets.
The Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, R.I., is the contracting agency. The Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) is the Navy's full-spectrum research, development, test and evaluation, engineering and fleet support center for submarines, autonomous underwater systems, and offensive and defensive weapons systems associated with undersea warfare.
