Warwick, Rhode Island. November 15, 2013 –SyQwest Inc., a leading supplier of commercial and military sonar solutions, which specializes in high-resolution sonar and acoustic systems for precision seafloor exploration announced today that the U.S. Navy has awarded it a five year ID/IQ contract with a maximum value at completion of $5.0M.
Under the contract, SyQwest Inc will repair and restore TR-317 transducers used on the US Navy fleet of submarines. The TR-317 tonpilz transducer is the building block for the spherical bow array sonar for the 688-I, and Virginia class submarines. This sonar array functions as the main high power active and passive sonar and search tool for these submarines.
The Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, R.I., is the contracting agency. The Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) is the Navy's full-spectrum research, development, test and evaluation, engineering and fleet support center for submarines, autonomous underwater systems, and offensive and defensive weapons systems associated with undersea warfare.
