HydroBox Display Interference

Question: I get interference on my Hydrobox software display when my engine is running. What do I do?

Answer: Poor grounding of the Hydrobox and/or the computer that is running Hydrobox software typically cause the interference.

For grounding you have two options, EITHER attach the white wire (from the power cable) to the battery negative terminal OR, use the ground stud on the Hydrobox and connect it to a good hull ground (for metal boats) or a sea ground for fiberglass boats. Note: A sea ground can just be a length of wire (heavier gauge is better) that runs down the length of the transducer-mounting pipe and into the water (strip the end back a little). The ground stud option is generally better but all installations are different.

Also, you can try to run the Hydrobox and computer off of it’s own isolated battery that isn’t connected to the engine. The Hydrobox only draws about 8 watts of power therefore you should be able to run all day on a fully charged marine deep-cycle battery.
